The history of the Guarnieri family dates back to Giovanni Guarnieri’s great-grandfather who had a water-powered “sawmill” on the banks of the Arno river. The grandfather’s resourcefulness led him to move and transform the sawmill into a carpentry shop using the first woodworking machines built in Leipzig at the end of the 19th century and he earned the nickname “S. Frediano sawmill”. The audacity of his grandfather, who was also a professor of drawing, and therefore with a fair knowledge of art, brought him to an antiques shop in Via Maggio in April, the street par excellence dedicated to antiques.

It is Father who further transforms the business: the factory expands to include an entire block in San Frediano and production is almost completely dedicated to the manufacture of furniture for radios and turntables (radio-phono-bar). We are in the years of the advent of the radio and the market has a notable demand for this product.

Things improve further, Television arrives and the demand for TV furniture is very high and Giovanni Guarnieri perceives its value.

The factory in the SAN FREDIANO district

The S. Frediano factory is no longer sufficient for the production of those years, even the location is no longer suitable, and unfortunately sad events such as the flood of ’66 and the fire of ’67 are decisive in the decision to move the factory. location. A new factory of several thousand square meters is built in the municipality of Tavarnelle V.P. which will be at the forefront of woodworking and painting for several years with the collaboration of German and American producers and its articles will be successful throughout the Mediterranean basin.

The end of the era of the cathode ray tube and the advent of electronics led to the decline of these products: the TV no longer requires furniture and related furnishings… It’s better to focus on something else!

The LANCIOLA agricultural company is born

We are in Tuscany… we are in Florence and what could be the most attractive economic sector?

The Tuscan countryside has inspired agricultural activity in the wine sector and Florence, city of art, cradle of the Renaissance etc… one of the main attractions in world tourism, hungry for accommodation, could only arouse interest in tourism and in particular in its hospitality, and here Hotel Mirage was born.

The Guarnieri family acquired Lanciola at the end of the 1960s and continued the valorisation of these lands and its products.

In 1985 Lanciola was enriched with the “Le Masse di Greve” farm on the first hill south-east of Greve in Chianti.

The company today boasts approximately 40 hectares of specialized D.O.C.G. vineyards. and I.G.T, over 20 hectares of olive grove.

The white and red Chianti Colli Fiorentini, Chianti Classico and IGT products are known and appreciated in Europe, USA, Japan, China

The Hotel Mirage

The Mirage Hotel, built by the family construction company in 1970, opened its doors to international customers in 1975. Since then it has never closed a single day, not even more recently during COVID19. Over these years, continuous and constant modernization interventions have been carried out as well as an expansion of the number of rooms, to reach the current 111.

It has always been owned by the Guarnieri family, who continues to manage the hotel with passion, keeping it in step with the times.

The other projects

Tuscany is not just Florence, but our territory also offers excellent attractions at the seaside and in the mountains. And here the interest is turned to Livorno where Giovanni Guarnieri takes over the presidency of the Porticciolo del Chioma, an exclusive bathing establishment located in the stupendous natural setting of the mouth of the Chioma between Quercianella and Castiglioncello. The mountain could not be missing, which in Tuscany is represented par excellence by Abetone and the Multipass consortium of which Giovanni Guarnieri is still President brings together the ski lifts of the area.
